Phuket, Thailand

Do you like sun, beach, massages, good food, Russians, monkeys and mopeds?  Then you will like Phuket, Thailand.  To be honest there were quite a few Australians and Brits there too, but the tourist population was largely Russian.  Im not sure why, but I could scarcely understand what anyone was saying.  Thank goodness so many Thai people could speak English.  We had a great time eating tasty and spicy food, getting massages, hanging out on the beach and drinking their "fruit shakes."

Upon arrival at the Avista hotel, we were offered a fruit drink, flowers and a cold wet hand towel to combat the heat.

Parker in his cool, modern bed.

Beach in Phuket

Parker and Greg, riding in the "Tuk-Tuk."

Parker feeding the monkeys, after we instilled the fear of God when it came to monkeys and their unpredictable attacks on humans.  Sorry Parker -- I guess we watch too many YouTube videos and National Geographic shows.

Proof that we haven't evolved yet.  Monkeys don't eat the crust on their bread either.

 More proof.

Monkey Haven on a street in Phuket.

Sawadee-ka is how you say hello in Thai.  They also put their hands together and touch their fingers to the chin and bow their head a little.  If you are a man you need to say "sawadee-krap."

This was a lady cooking eggs and fish on the street in the morning.

This is a street we walked at least a dozen times while we were in Karon Beach.  There were a lot of restaurants, massage parlors and stores along the way.

We feel it is critical to obey all signs.

Thai money to buy some fruit shakes.

Me holding on to a beautiful man.

Sunset at the beach.

One of our beloved fruit shakes -- this one was watermelon flavor.

Greg after he was "lobster-ized" on the second day.

Very, very typical scene in Phuket.  So many people riding around with their businesses on their bikes.

Another great sunset.

Parker, giving the look of approval for this day.

Probably a lot of Russians basking in the sun.

A few vendors walking buy, typically selling sun dresses, linens, sand brushes (brushes used to sweep sand off your feet and chair), and jewelry.

Typical scene with all the electrical wires draped across the buildings.  This is only a very small sample, but this place was heavy with cables and wires.

 Tuk-Tuk Time.

 Parker found a miniature elephant.

Greg riding on one his size.

On the Elephant Safari aka Tourist Trap.  Yes, it was a tourist trap, but seeing the elephants was pretty cool.

 A group shot.

This picture shows me right after the elephant gave me a snot shower.  I'm not exaggerating -- it was like a shower of snot.  So gross!  Please note how sympathetic Greg and Parker are in the picture.

Another shot of us on an elephant.

 Parker feeding the poor fella.

Strolling the streets at night after eating some Thai food.

 Fruit Stand.

Happy with anticipation of what is about to be served.

 Greg happy.

 Greg, very happy .

The source of all my joy at that moment.

It was gone in about 3 minutes.  We have learned to really appreciate "real" ice-cream when we get it because it is hard to find in China, and super expensive if you do find it.

Greg and Parker relaxing with a foot and leg massage.

A Thai massage consists of a back massage and back twisting maneuvers after the "foot" massage.  Use caution if having a massage in Thailand, because they will really twist you and bend you all around -- and I, personally,  have decided to skip this part in the future.

 Two cool dudes.

Everyone rides a scooter in Phuket.  This kid looks like he is 9 or something.  Although they are fun, I also read that there is an extremely high mortality rate due to bike accidents.  So again, use caution.

These little Thai "Temples" were everywhere in front of businesses.  I don't know what the significance is, but they were common there.

Mr. Banana Pancake guy.  Mmmmm .. .delicious.

 Greg gets an idea.

Greg, playing the part of a tourist relaxing.

I do believe that Parker is actually slightly taller than Greg in this picture.

Oh Yeah -- that's my man with the wild hair.

Greg and Parker taking the wave runners for a spin.

Just an elephant, walking around the streets.

Only the best place to eat pizza!  Ever!

 At our beautiful hotel.

The "killer hill" from our hotel to the road.  I don't think we gained any weight on this trip because we had to walk up this gravity-defying hill every day.

Greg is just happy to be "up" the killer hill.

Scene from our hotel balcony.

Picture perfect day at the airport.

This is what a person should look like after a fabulous vacation :)
